Bitten

Author: Kelley Armstrong Read: 7/12/2018 Pages: 372 Rating: 4.4 Format: physical Response: I very much enjoyed this book. The inner monolog was brutal at points though and super repetitive. There were times where one paragraph was an entire page, and it was all monolog. I wish I was exaggerating. The story was good overall. The dynamic between Clay and Elena was enjoyable to "watch" as she was coming to terms with accepting him and learning to be comfortable staying with him despite still being angry with him.

January Bingo Update 1

Image
Here's my first update for January Bingo!  So far I've gotten through Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman for the Popsugar challenge 2019, Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan for book with over 1 million ratings and admin/mod favorite. I also just today finished Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin for a book that's older than you. I'm going to try to knock out Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon done by the end of the month but we shall see. I also want to get a couple more read including: Stolen by Kelly Armstrong for shape shifting character Homecoming by Kass Morgan for science fiction

The Burning Maze

Author: Rick Riordan  Read: 05/27/2018 Pages: 431 Rating: 4.9 Format: physical Response:   It's been almost a year since I read this and it still hurts. The death in this book was hard to swallow and gave me the feels throughout the book. I was shocked at who the villain was. It was a happy and terrifying surprise. The last 2 chapters though tore apart my heart. I won't spoil it, but damn I'm pretty sure my heart is still broken. I ugly cried for a good long while after that. Having Meg as a descendant of a long line of Demeter's favorites was a surprising twist and I was here for every second of it. Especially the guardians her father brought back to life and answer to her. I'm so ready for The Tyrant's Tomb to come out September 24th!

January Bingo

Image
This month I will be participating in a book bingo from The Book Democracy. This is my sheet before anything is filled in. Each week I'll post updates of how far I've gotten. My goal is one bingo by the end of the month. The rules are simple.  1. ONE book a month may be used on TWO squares, not including the free space. 2. Books must be started AND finished in the month of the bingo event 3. Books must be over 150 pages, and be middle grade level and above. Children's classics count as they are long enough.  4. Graphic Novels can only be used for the "Graphic Novel" prompt.  My plan of attack: Multiple POV: Day 21 by Kass Morgan LGBTQIA main character: A Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue (restart) by Mackenzi Lee Shape shifting character: Stolen by Kelley Armstrong Book that's older than you: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen Intimidating Book: Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon Popsugar challenge 2019: Norse Mythology

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Vol. 3 & 4

Image
Author: Naoko Takeuchi Read: 5/10/18 (3) and 5/17/18 (4) Pages: 238 (3) and 244 (4) Rating: 4.5 average Format: physical Response: I wouldn't typically lump 2 books together, but I'm going to here. In book 3 Tuxedo Mask is bad and her friends fall in line behind Queen Beryl. Sailor Moon still doesn't know her past but when everything's said and done, "Usagi" shows up wanting the Legendary Silver Crystal. Book 3 was good, but forgettable, as it sets the stage for book 4. The battle that happens, is there, but nothing really to write home about. The group I'm more in this for is the Black Moon that show up in the 4th book. They have the Malefic Black Cristal and they start kidnapping Sailor Moon's friend. Sailor Moon travels to the 30th century and finds out what her future holds. This was such a good book, I know I will want to read it again some day. It

A Court of Frost and Starlight

Image
Author: Sarah J. Maas Read: 5/6/2018 Pages: 229 Rating: 3.75 Format: physical Response:   This book is purely what the Goodreads description says: " Feyre, Rhys, and their close-knit circle of friends are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly-changed world beyond. But Winter Solstice is finally near, and with it, a hard-earned reprieve. Yet even the festive atmosphere can't keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, she finds that those dearest to her have more wounds than she anticipated--scars that will have far-reaching impact on the future of their Court." It's all fluffy filler to get us to the next book where we get to explore more with Cassian and Nesta. Nothing really changes in this book other than Ferya and Rhys are trying to have a baby now. Nesta's still a ragging bitch, Elaine is

2018 in Review

2018 was a little rough as far as actually getting reading done. In between my job and my business, I was one busy person. This was especially true for the last few months of the year. It's been almost a month and I'm still catching up on sleep. I got a few books knocked out for my tbr, but ended up adding more to the list then I took off. And as always, I deviated from my list. Goals for 2019: Get all the past and present reviews up Post more on Instagram Read 52 books, or finish the Popsugar challenge, whichever comes first 2018 Read Total: 16 Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, Vol 1 by Naoko Takeuchi Dogs of War by Sheila Keenan Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, Vol 2 by Naoko Takeuchi Still Star-Crossed by Melinda Taub Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J.
