Some facts about this page: 
  • All of the books reviewed have been read this year with the exception of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. That was technically read right after Christmas of 2016. 
  • I'll be keeping the TBR file updated as I finish each book. The ones listed are just the ones I want to get through this year, it doesn't mean more won't show up on the list as I finish them.
  • A new review goes up every week on Sunday at 12pm. If I am able to get through enough for the remainder of the year, I'll double back for a second one each week. So make sure to subscribe and follow us on Instagram for updates!

A little about the person behind the blog:
I have a full time 9-5 job and this is just something fun I do on the side. On weekends, I am out and about working on my small business, so I'm busy about 85% of the time. My favorite food is mac and cheese, I'm a planner, and Pinterest is hell hole I fall down around any holiday (Evidence: I'm making red, white, and blue deviled eggs of 4th of July).

4.5/5 Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan picks up 9 months after The Lightning Thief and Percy has almost made it through a full year at his new school. He has a new friend that the school has taken in as their charity case as he's homeless, Tyson. But it turns out Tyson is not only a cyclops, but also Percy's brother. They reach camp to find that someone has poisoned Talia's tree and the only cure is the golden fleece. While Clarisse is given the quest to go find the fleece, Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson all head out to look for Grover who's in trouble. They end up teaming up with Clarisse to get down to the Sea of Monsters, also known as the Bermuda Triangle. There, Annabeth and Percy run into all sorts of trouble with different monsters. The Stonekeeper (Amulet #1)

Author: Kazu Kibuishi Read: 8/12/2017 Pages: 192 Rating: 3.5 Format: graphic novel: physical Response: Emily and Navin move with their mother to their great-grandfather's house who went missing many years before. It's a creepy old house from the first moment you see it. There was a weird Indiana Jones moment when the amulet showed up after Emily activated it with her hand and blood. The story has a weird combination of robots and magic, but it kinda works for the book. The only flaw this book had was that one of the main points was forgettable. I'm not sure how the monster got away with the mom, but it obviously isn't that big of a deal. As the first graphic novel I've ever read, I was satisfied with it for the most part. It was cute and easy to finish in one sitting.
