Book Description: The year is 1945, Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon - when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient stone circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach - an "outlander" - in a Scotland torn by war and raiding boarder clans in the year of Our Lord . . . 1743.

Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life . . . And shatter her heart. For here James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire . . . And between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

Response: Thanks to Audible, I was able to get through this terrifyingly long book. I just want to reiterate how DAMN long this book was. It was hard to go back to it in the audio version, but I'm glad I stuck with it and finished it. Before you start reading this though, you have to remember that it takes place in the 1700's, where things were a lot different socially then they are now. Jamie and Clare are perfectly written for the times they were born. My favorite part had to be the end where Clare says she's pregnant. It literally gave me life.
