Book Description: It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.


Response: It took me until the end of the book to realize who the actual author was. It explained why the book never felt quite right. It was NOT written by J.K. Rowling, and it definitely showed. The story line was overall good, but the reactions of the characters from books 1-7 felt wrong. Even new characters reactions seemed forced and unrealistic. It was hard to get past the play format until part 2 where the book seemed to come into its own and became more natural feeling.

TV shows that made me want to read the books

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I like to watch new shows before I read the books they're based on. If I hate the premise of the show, I'm certainly going to hate the book. But there have been a couple of TV shows over the years that have made me want to read the books that they're based on, just because I love the worlds that are built so much. Outlander is one of those shows that I heard about for so long, but I never really watched it. I knew everyone loved it, and it was really good, but I just never got into the idea of it. Then someone recommended the book to me. January Bingo

This month I will be participating in a book bingo from The Book Democracy. This is my sheet before anything is filled in. Each week I'll post updates of how far I've gotten. My goal is one bingo by the end of the month. The rules are simple.  1. ONE book a month may be used on TWO squares, not including the free space. 2. Author: Kass Morgan Read: 7/18/2018 Pages: 326 Rating: 4 Format: physical Response: I enjoyed this more than the show on the CW, and I love that show. I really like Bellamy and Clarke here as compared to the first season of the TV show. Luke and Glass was something I wasn't expecting, and at first I was not a fan, but they grew on me. It was interesting to see what families were willing to do to protect each other and keep the people they loved safe. The point of view changes every chapter, and while I don't typically like changes in POV, it was well played. Where other writers send you across time with the switch, Morgan kept it all on the same timeline (aside from flashbacks), so when you were done seeing what was happening on Earth, she flipped you up to space for what was happening right then.
