Book Slump

This year has been a rough year for reading.

My Goodreads goal was 40 books, but in reality, I wanted more. It's October 15th and I'm only at 16 books read. Send help... and coffee..

I'm going to start adding the new posts for the rest of the year of what I've gotten read, but be prepared to be seriously underwhelmed.

TV shows that made me want to read the books

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I like to watch new shows before I read the books they're based on. If I hate the premise of the show, I'm certainly going to hate the book. But there have been a couple of TV shows over the years that have made me want to read the books that they're based on, just because I love the worlds that are built so much. Outlander is one of those shows that I heard about for so long, but I never really watched it. I knew everyone loved it, and it was really good, but I just never got into the idea of it. Then someone recommended the book to me. I know this is backwards from what this post was supposed to be, but I read the first book, and then watched the first season, and decided I was going to continue reading the series and then following it up with the show.  Currently I'm on book 4 Drums of Autumn. January Bingo

This month I will be participating in a book bingo from The Book Democracy. This is my sheet before anything is filled in. Each week I'll post updates of how far I've gotten. My goal is one bingo by the end of the month. The rules are simple.  1. ONE book a month may be used on TWO squares, not including the free space. 2. Books must be started AND finished in the month of the bingo event 3. Books must be over 150 pages, and be middle grade level and above. Children's classics count as they are long enough.  4. Author: Kass Morgan Read: 7/18/2018 Pages: 326 Rating: 4 Format: physical Response: I enjoyed this more than the show on the CW, and I love that show. I really like Bellamy and Clarke here as compared to the first season of the TV show. Luke and Glass was something I wasn't expecting, and at first I was not a fan, but they grew on me. It was interesting to see what families were willing to do to protect each other and keep the people they loved safe. The point of view changes every chapter, and while I don't typically like changes in POV, it was well played. Where other writers send you across time with the switch, Morgan kept it all on the same timeline (aside from flashbacks), so when you were done seeing what was happening on Earth, she flipped you up to space for what was happening right then.
